It is so neat to see a sketch of myself by a talented Detroit artist Clifton Jamaal Perry. The sketch was commissioned by a Western Michigan University scholar program director /author Ron Dillard for a book he is working on to help and inspire students to continue on into college. This image is incredibly special to me because it captures all that Canada means to me, from the kindness and generosity I received when I first arrived in Canada (as symbolized by the doll) to all that I’ve become because of the hope and opportunities here. I am so proud to be standing by that flag.
