Alberta Literary Award Shortlist

May 5, 2019 – I was a little nervous today as I stood to read “Ten Cents A Pound” to a room full of gifted, amazing, and seasoned writers. In the end, I survived and felt really grateful to be among the writers — Jenny keith, Catherine Owen, Wendy McGrath, Thomas Wharton, Kelly Shepherd, Leslie Greentree, Collin Doyle, Shawna Lemay, Fran Kimmel, and Alice Major — shortlisted by the Writers Guild of Alberta for the 2019 Alberta Literary Awards. Can’t believe Ten Cents A Pound is on the shortlist for the R Ross Annett Award for Children’s Literature! Can’t thank Josee Bisaillon enough for her beautiful illustrations.

Alex Janvier

May 15, 2019 – Thank you so much to everyone for coming out to celebrate the Zyp Art Gallery’s 1st Anniversary, Mr. Hank Zyp’s birthday, and the unveiling of an original Alex Janvier painting! It was such an incredibly special night with poetry readings by the delightful Michelle and Dani Zyp, guitar melody ‘Henricus’ by the talented Tim Koslo, and magnificent flute music by the beautiful Indigenous performer, Amanda Lamothe. We can’t wait to see what this coming year will bring for the ZAG! p.s Special huge thanks to Viv Gazelle!
