World Refugee Day

Writers’ Guild Literary Award Dinner

June 8, 2019 – Didn’t win, but came out feeling blessed with more beautiful friends — Judy Johnson, Katherine Koller, Clem Martini, Cheryl Foggo. The universe works in amazing ways. Thank you to the Writers’ Guild for a wonderful evening.

World Refugee Day

June 20, 2019 – It was so amazing to be part of World Refugee Day (June 20th) at the Edmonton City Hall. To see people of all colours and cultural background standing together to sing songs from around the world was just so beautiful. I was especially moved and humbled when an immigrant/refugee youth came up to me after my speech to share how inspired she was with my words that now she’d like to become a doctor too. “You will see that through kindness, one of these refugee children will grow up to heal you when you are sick, he or she will lift you up when you are down, and they will bring peace to a world torn apart.”

June 25, 2019 – Gosh, my heart is full. Because of YOU, dearest friends, I am now one of the recipients of Canada’s Top 25 Immigrant Awards!! I really can’t wrap my mind around this as there are so many incredible individuals doing incredible things, but hehe, I think you may have gone a bit crazy with the voting 🙂 But, I’ll take it 🙂 You are all so amazing! Who would have thought that little refugee girl who arrived at the gates of the Edmonton International Airport 40yrs ago would one day be blessed as such? My deepest gratitude to you. Love to you all.
