Vicky & Phil Baril Award of Excellence
2025 Nov 20 – Last night, the Calmar Secondary School handed out their academic awards to all our amazing youths in the community. My heart is beyond delighted to declare that the scholarship we have been awarding annually, over the past 14yrs, to Gr12 students pursuing a career in Health/Science is now officially named the VICKY & PHIL BARIL AWARD of EXCELLENCE in honour of the incredibly amazing Vicky & Phil Baril!!
Vicky and Phil Baril were instrumental in helping bring my family to Canada in 1979 when we were refugees from the Vietnam War. Without sponsors like them, many refugees would not have opportunities for a good education or be able to fulfill their dreams. Mr. Phil Baril was a biology teacher who inspired many students to pursue the sciences and to understand the workings of our world and Universe.
